 Chapter 9

Verses 1-11

V1 Trumpet #5 and Woe #1  a star fell from heaven unto the earth and unto him was given the key to the bottomless pit

Bibles says some things about stars:
    Job 38: 7 Morning stars sang together
    Jude 13 wandering stars–793 asteriktos unfixed i.e. vacillating–unstable

V2 he opened the bottomless pit
    there arose smoke as of a great furnace
    sun and the air darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit
    includes sulfur and other poisonous gasses

V3 there came out of the smoke, locusts upon the earth
    given power as the scorpions of the earth have power

V4 Commanded them that they hurt not the grass, neither any green thing,     neither tree
    only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads = 144,00 male, virgin Jews

V5     should not kill them
    but torment them 5 months
    torment of a scorpion

V6    men shall seek death and shall not find it
    desire death but death will flee

V7 Shapes:
    like horses prepared unto battle:  as it were exoskeleton
    crown as crowns like gold
    face as faces of men


V8    hair as the hair of women
    teeth as of lions

V9    breastplates, as breastplates of iron
    sound of their wings as the sound of chariots of many
        horses running to battle

V10    tails like unto scorpions
    there were stings in their tails
    power to hurt men 5 months
        God's call to repent:   Joel 1:6 and Joel 2:1-12

V11    they had a king over them
    Hebrew name:  abaddon–A destroying angel
    Greek name:     apollyon–the destroyer, a Greek name for a demon of the abyss

Ephesians 2:2 ...satan is the prince of the power of the air; the spirit that is now working in the children of disobedience.

V12 first woe is past, behold there come two woes more hereafter

V13 Trumpet #6
    Voice from the 4 horns of the golden altar which is before God
V14    saying to the 6th angel which had a trumpet
    "Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates."

V15     One angel for each particular time period appointed by God.  4 angels loosed each one for a specific job during that specific time period.  Each one different.  It does not say what each job is that each angel will do, but is to slay 1/3 of the population.

    for:
    1 hour
    1 day
    1 month, and          
    1 year
    slay or kill 1/3 of the men
V16. 200,000,000


V17    horses, having breastplates of fire and of jacinth and brimstone
    heads of the horses:  heads of lions
    out of their mouths issued fire, smoke and brimstone

V18  1/3 men were killed by the fire, and by the smoke, and by the     brimstone, which issued out of their mouths

V19    power in their mouth, and in their tails––tails like serpents and had     heads and with them they do hurt--91 to be unjust, i.e. do wrong     (moral, socially, or physical), hurt, injure, damage, be an offender

God does NOT do wrong or is unjust, or hurts anyone, but these people will reap what they have sown.

V20-21 The people that were not killed did NOT repent
