Why doesn't God hear when I pray?

Have you ever wondered why it seems like when you pray God doesn't seem to answer?  Not just once but it seems on-going that God just doesn't seem to hear?  Consider the following verses.  This is Isaiah 58 taken from the KJV with the 'eths' taken out.  No, no one is perfect, but if there are things that God has been talking to you about and you have been ignoring Him on it then you need to know that He may not be answering for a reason.  You may need to talk to the Lord, repent and get things right with Him and make no excuses.

Isaiah 58
1  Cry aloud, spare not, lift up your voice like a trumpet, and show my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.
2  Yet they see me daily, and delight to know my ways, as a nation that did righteousness, and forsook not the ordinance of their God:  they ask of me the ordinance of justice; they take delight in the approaching to God.
3  Wherefore have we fasted, they say, and you see not?  Wherefore have we afflicted our soul, and you take no knowledge?  (The Lord responds) Behold in the day of your fast you find pleasure, and exact all your labors.
4  Behold, you fast for strife and debate, and to smite with the fist of wickedness:   you shall not fast as you do this day, to make your voice to be heard on high.
5  Is it such a fast that I have chosen?  A day for a man to afflict his soul?  Is it to bow down his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him?  Will you call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the Lord?
6  Is not this the fast that I have chosen?  To loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke?
7  Is it not to deal your bread to the hungry, and that you bring the poor that are cast out to your house?  When you see the naked, that you cover him;  and that your hide not yourself from your own flesh:
8  Then shall your light break forth as the morning and your health shall spring forth speedily:  and your righteousness shall go before you; the glory of the Lord shall be your re-reward.
9  Then shall you call, and the Lord shall answer; you shall cry and He shall say:  Here I am!  If you take away from the midst of you the yoke, the putting forth of the finger and speaking vanity,
10  and if you draw out your soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall your light rise in obscurity, and your darkness be as the noon day:
11  And the Lord shall guide you continually, and satisfy your soul in drought, and make fat your bones, and you shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.
12  And you shall build the old waste places:   you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; and you shall be called, "The repairer of the breach", "The restorer of paths to dwell in".
13  If you turn away your foot from the sabbath from doing your pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the Lord, honorable; and shall honor Him, not doing your own ways nor finding your own pleasure, nor speaking your own words:
14  Then shall you delight yourself in the Lord; and I will cause you to ride upon the high places of the earth and feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father for the mouth of the Lord has spoken it.

Psalm Chaper 2 verses 1, 2, 3

Psalm 2:1  Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?

The word 'rage' here only appears in this verse and nowhere else in the Bible.  It is a group of people that join together to plot against good people; the righteous of God.  The image here is one of a lynch mob.

The word 'imagine' doesn't mean to picture in your head, it means to ponder or think about.  It means to murmur, mutter, roar.  You may have noticed that when evil people are faced with something they don't like--the truth--the first thing they do in protest is raise their voice level.

So here we have a lynch mob loudly protesting, to no purpose, against God and His people and against all that is right.  It always amazes me:  No matter how these people try to change the truth, how much they try to convince themselves there is no God and no absolutes, the Truth is always there!  God  isn't going to give in to them!

Verse 2-3 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying, 'Let us break their bands asunder (or root out), and cast away their cords from us.'

Sound familiar?  That is what is happening today.  They make a stand and sit in counsel to lay a plan on how they can fight against God and overcome Him!  I have never seen it but do you remember the movie, "Your Arm is Too Short to Box With God"?  These people obviously haven't got that yet.

But the Lord is unmoved:  Verse 4 says, " He that sits in the heavens shall laugh:  The Lord shall have them in derision."  The Jewish Bible says:  "Adonai looks at them in derision".  And that word 'derision' means He looks at them as if they are foreign, mockingly, He speaks to them and they cannot understand because they are not hearing Him and His Words are as if they are unintelligible.

But a day is coming where they can make no excuses.  The Lord will speak to them in His anger and they will wish they had listened--some of them will any way.  Some will be cursing Him in hell.  What a shame!!  When He loves them so much and wants to care for them so much!!

Caramel Corn

Years ago a church I had gone to made a recipe book for a building fund raiser.  I put in some recipes but one of the very best is what Pastor Jean Tulip offered--Caramel Corn!!  Mmmm mmm.  Here is what was left of the last batch I made.  Vic and I just pigged out on this!  Vic said, "You can make this any time!!"  I said, "Oh no I can't!!  Maybe once a year!  It is just too good!!"
Here is the recipe:

5 quarts of popped corn
2 sticks of butter
2 cups of brown sugar
1/2 cup of white corn syrup
pinch of cream of tartar

Mix butter, sugar, corn syrup and cream of tartar in a good sized sauce pan.  Bring to rapidly to a boil and boil for 5 minutes.  Remove from heat and add 1 teaspoon of baking soda.  Stir until disolved.  Pour over popped corn and mix well.  Turn out on baking sheet and bake at 225• for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes.  Break apart and let cool.

That is it and you got the BEST caramel corn ever!!  Add some Spanish peanuts and you got a Cracker Jack!!  Don't forget the prizes!!

Enjoy!  God bless.

Deodorant Bath Powder

I like to use natural made products.  But every once in a while I use something that isn't compatible to me.  I had use this deodorant; a crystal; after a while I notice my armpit started itching and then later started burning---really bad.  I was in tears the pain was so awful.

A while back I had shared a deodorant bath powder recipe that I had made up.  I just made some more and thought I would do a "re-post" of it.  I made a large quantity and really this will last forever!!  You don't need to use that much, so it is quite a cost savings.  AND it really works keeping odor down.  Here is the recipe:

You will need a large jar to put this in, about a gallon size jar.
Two 1 pound boxes of cornstarch
One 1 pound box of baking soda
1 cup of cinnamon
I put all the ingredients in the jar, close it up and shake it.  Let it set with the lid on until the powder settles.  Isn't it purty!!   You can take some out into a smaller container and use a powder puff or sprinkle some on you hand and on your armpit.  You don't need much.

This is about a gallon sized jar.  You can see what the recipe above recipe makes.  So you can almost double the recipe, but for sure add 1/2 again the recipe.  But you need space to shake it.

This is the best stuff!  All the ingredients are natural and it doesn't hurt!  I hope you try it!  God bless!!
