Love!!!

Most everyone, at least here in America, have heard this:

For God so loved the world,
that He gave His only begotten Son,
that whosoever believes in Him
should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3 :16

It is a common scripture known by many but I wonder how many really know what this means.  How many think it is just a nice saying instead of actual truth!

Do you know the difference between fact and truth?
Facts change and truth remain constant.
Truth NEVER changes.
Truth can NEVER be changed.
Truth remains the same FOREVER!

That is one of the things that I love so much about God.  He IS truth and He NEVER changes!  So if He never changes we can get to know Him.  And He WANTS us to know Him!  He wants us to know His UNCONDITIONAL love.

His love for us never changes,
but He wants us to change according to
His will and His Word.
He will help us, and work with us so long as
we are willing to submit ourselves to Him
and believe His Word and do it.

So why do bad things happen?  The Bible tells us the answer:
The thief (the devil) comes not,
but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.
I Am come that they might have Life,
and that they might have it
more abundantly.
A person might say, "Well I don't have abundant life!"  Well it could be the way the person is living.  It could be the way they are speaking.  It could be the way they treat others.

These are some of the reasons why a person may not be experiencing the abundant life that God has intended for them to have.  If you are one of those that are not experiencing this wonderful abundant Life that God has made for you do this:

1)  Trust the Lord.  Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and lean not to your own understanding.  In ALL your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.  Be not wise in your own eyes:  fear the Lord, and depart from evil.  Proverbs 3:6-7  In fact read the whole chapter; it shows what to do.
2)  Delight in the Lord.   Delight yourself also in the Lord; and He shall give you the desires of your heart.  Psalm 37:4
3)  Commit your ways to Him.  Commit your way unto the Lord; trust also in Him; and He shall bring it to pass.  Psalm 37:5

There is so much more, but start with these truths and learn more.  I want to encourage you to read the Bible, God's Word that NEVER EVER changes.  Get to know Him!  Get to know His character!  He loves you!!

February's placemat
is to remind us of God's unchanging love for us
and the Love we should have for one another.
This placemat is square
Here is what you will need for each placemat:
1/4 yard  of 4 pinks (make it the long quarter instead of fat quarters)
19 inch by 19 inch of background fabric
19 inch by 19 inch backing fabric
19 inch by 19 inch of Timtex or something like it ( I used Stiffy from Long Creek Mills)
Print off the pattern template found on the right side of this page listed under "Links to My Patterns"

Here is what to do:
Cut the pinks 2 1/2 inches wide by the width of the fabric
Arrange in an order that pleases you
Sew together using 1/4 inch seams
Press on both sides with hot iron
Trace template on the 'new fabric' four times
Cut out carefull
Take background fabric and fold in half
And again the other way
Crease with your hand to find center
Center
Place hearts so the point is in the center.  You can place them from corner to corner (like I did in the picture) or side to side.  Which ever you prefer, but have the points in the center
Set your machine on the widest statin stitch and sew across starting where the hearts begin to touch.  You may want to glue down
When you get to the center cross roads just keep going across
Now sew the other way.  When you get to the cross roads, again, keep going
Now sew the around the outside of the hearts with a statin stitch that is a bit narrower.  You can keep going from where you left off with sewing across, just change the setting to a narrower stitch
Continue around going slowly, especially on the inside points.
Trim to about 1 inch outside of the hearts
Bind off using your favorite method of binding.  DONE!  Enjoy!!

BONUS!!
A Beautiful Valentines Table Runner Pattern!!!
What you will need to make this table runner?
1/2 yard of white background fabric
1/2 yard of backing fabric
16 inches by 45 inches of stabilizer such as Timtex or Peltex (I used stiffy)
1/2 yard for hearts
Scraps  for flowers, green for leaves, blue for the Blue Morpho Butterflies, and yellow for flower centers
Matching thread for various fabrics and stems
Black thread for butterflies
Copy of pattern.  You can find on the right side of this page in "Links to My Patterns"

What to do:
Layer Stiffy and background fabric (wait on the backing)
Cut out hearts, 12 flowers of various colors and place on fabric in the following manner
I used a decorative stitch around the inside and outside of the heart.  With water soluble pen draw stitching lines on the flowers to make 'hearts'
With narrow satin stitch sew down either side of the line from one side to the other.  You can see there is stitching down both sides of the line.  Then do across the other way in the same way--on both sides of the line
Next sew around the outside of each flower with the same satin stitch.
With water soluble pen mark stems.  Make the stem in the heart as if they are secured in the bottom of it.  And the stems outside the  heart coming from the binding as in the picture.  Use satin stitch to make stems.
Put centers in flowers make the cross lines and sew like the flowers.  Place on leaves; larger hearts for the outside flowers, smaller leaves for flowers inside of the heart.  Use small narrow satin stitch around.

For butterflies: use wide satin stitch around the outside of butterflies with black thread.  With the black make head with wide satin stitch, narrow for neck and wide again for body for length of body and narrow down to point for tail.   Use straight stitch for antennae and division for wings
Cut strips of heart fabric 2 1/2 inches wide and width of fabric for binding.  Fold in half length wise press.  Put backing on the back of table runner.   From the back sew on binding
Fold binding to the front and sew down using matching color thread
DONE!!  Enjoy the table runner.  Please let me know if you make this.  I would like to hear from you!  God bless.
